new work

alright, so what I’ve been doin’ of late is working for a little startup Portland business as their in-house graphic designer, started as an intern, and now am very proud to be their full-time “pixel-pusher” …yes that is my official job title…company business cards soon to come. So what have i got to show for it? Well here’s one thing; a total sitewide facelift, this project included product photography, a bit of copywriting, flash, css, javascript, basically a brand-new feel and flow to their website, all championed by yours truely. Yeah, kinda proud. O.K. so here’s what their home page looked like before:index and to see my amazing re-vamp you’ll have to check it out here!

typography for web designers.

it’s like space, geeky, computer-mouse driven space, or maybe more like making art without thought or effort.

pure visual mind maps, warped photography with a Dali-esque style, mesmerizing installations, puddle thinking, the most beautiful swiss book of 2006, all natural printmaking, why hasn’t this greenpeace ad been used more? Now thats what photoshop is for!

speak with conviction

Love this poem, love this typography video, and the article in which I found it was pretty good too.

window farming

This is pure genius! In an age where farming has become an unattainable and romanticized idea (ahem…Farm Town)  window farming makes growing your own food a possibility to, well, anybody that has a window. Learn more about window farming and how these artists are revolutionizing what it means to live sustainably in a cheap, quick and personal manner.

Yes, I bought this bottle of booze because of the label. Yes, I frequently buy things based on the typography, and design of the packaging. Yes, this is good vodka. Mmmhmmm.

Mr. Spitz

dwightspitz

For anyone interested in what’s been in recent revolution on my ipod I present to you Mr. Dwight Spitz. This magnificent new release has been keeping me sane while stumbling through Dreamweaver, cooking (and drinking), and well its a solid soundtrack to just about anything your doing. I admit the first things I noticed were the shoutouts to Paula Poundstone and Build to Spill, but everything on here is thoughtful, fun and full of sick beats!

sweet style

Discovered Kelly Kirk today, wonderfully fun patterns and letterpress joy! Check out her distinct high contrast style in her porfolio. And her and hubby’s design team eighthourday

These two seem to know how to combine work and play seamlessly into their designs.

unhappy hipsters

picture-1

So I stumbled across unhappy hipsters some time ago, and recently rediscovered it through a Creative Review post. Always good for a chuckle, now with a twist of irony as I’ve recently been working as graphic designer for a company that makes uber-modern fixtures, that yes, were featured in Dwell…this in no way reflects my own lifestyle (think family antiques and perpetual messiness). Ahh the satisfaction of poking fun at those who dream of living in an ikea display…

This one is my current favorite…a masterpiece.
